SIS ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

SIS legislative body is the Executive Board, which, following the Assembly of Members' directions, organizes the Society's scientific and administrative activities.
The Executive Board consists of President, General Secretary, Treasurer and eight Councillors elected by the Assembly of Members. All Members of the Executive Board remain in office for four years. Every other year are alternatively elected four Councillors and the President together with the Treasurer and the General Secretary.
The President is the Society legal representative, he convenes Executive Board and Assembly meetings, and enforces their resolutions.
The General Secretary implements the approved measures, collaborates with the President to the functioning of the Society, is involved in the organization of the Scientific Meetings and the proceedings publications.
The Treasurer sees to the Society administrative tasks and in particular to its budget. The Councillors are responsible of specific activities of the Society, like the chairmanship of the Programme Committee of SIS Scientific Meetings and Intermediate Conferences , the organization of study days and workshops, and the relationships with state institutions.
The Society consists of two categories of Members: Ordinary Members and Adherent Institutions. Appointment of a new Member has to be proposed by five Ordinary Members, who must provide evidence of the candidate's contribution to the progress of Statistics through methodological and/or applied research, to didactics and to statistical services improvement.
